After Visiting the Iringa District Council Office, we had to drive to Isimila Stone Age site its located 21 Kilometers from Iringa town of Tanzania – Zambia Highway almost one-hour Drive.
We met the site Manager Nathalie Mamsery who gave us detailed information about the origin of the site and their plan on promoting and preserving it. There after she guided us to The Museum
Isimila museum (Information Centre), a small Museum where the tour begins with well-captioned displays highlighting Iringa Heritage and its people together with the history of the early man including his ability to make and use stone tools. There after we enjoyed a walk down town to the stone age site
Stone Age Site, Isimila is one of the richest exposure of old stone age tools (mainly acheulian tools)and an important archaeological site in Tanzania, the incredible wealth of archeological findings such us fossils, arrowheads, hammer stones, axe and scrapers were discovered
Solo standing Sandstone Earth Pillars Said to be 20 to 30 meters tall as a result of soil erosion that began 300000 to 500000 years ago
