Kalambo waterfalls on the Kalambo River Located at Kalambo District Council - Rukwa Region, is the second Tallest Single dropping waterfalls in Africa. This spectacular uninterrupted Stream falls 235 Meters into the gorge, the bottom of the falls is friendly reachable.
The River starts at Kalambo Ranch and Lwafi Game Reserve down into Lake Tanganyika, The river borders between Tanzania and Zambia.
The falls is under Tanzania Forest Services (TFS), Kalambo Nature Reserve, is surrounded by natural trees just to mention a few there is Mtomoni (Diplorynchus condylorcarpon), Mbula (parinari curatellifolia), Mkolola (Lannea schimperi), Msolo (Pseudolachnostylis maprouneifolia), Mrama Mweusi (Comb retum molle), Mturituri (commiphora africana) and Etc
How to get There
You can drive from Sumbawanga Town up to Kalambo falls that covers 120 Kilometres though 17 Kilometres are Rough Road from Kawala village the junction of kalambo falls and Kasanga (Lake Tanganyika), so during the rain session you will need the Four wheel Drive (4 x ). Also you can take a direct public transport from Sumbawanga town to Kapozwa village and you do a walk of 10 - 20 Minutes to the falls.
Accomodation
At the nature forest Reserve you are recommended to do camping or Lodge at Kasanga Village which is 25 Kilometres From Kalambo waterfalls.
